Chief Information Officer

Our client, a large, nonprofit community hospital, is currently seeking an information technology executive, well versed in implementing and managing change within a complex healthcare organization, to fill its role of Chief Information Officer (CIO).  If your strengths are in strategic thinking, project management, and aligning people with organizational goals, we invite you to consider this exciting opportunity.

The CIO will develop and lead hospitalwide information system strategies (including all telecommunications), standards, and policies that support care delivery both at the main campus and at off-site locations spread throughout a five-county region.  S/he will develop and mentor the IS team to support the system, improve user group satisfaction, and provide consistently excellent customer service.  This position reports directly to the Hospital’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be an energetic and enthusiastic professional with substantial experience initiating and managing technology changes within a healthcare environment.  A keen understanding of the role information technology plays in enhancing quality, performance, and competitive advantage is essential.  The best candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to educate and engage constituents with varying knowledge, interest, and abilities.

In addition to five to ten years of progressive senior IS management experience in a healthcare setting, a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or the equivalent is needed; a master’s degree is preferred.  Previous tenure as CIO is ideal.

The Organization

The Hospital serves as the sole acute care facility in its area, providing a full range of medical/surgical, critical care, obstetric, pediatric, and behavioral health services to the community.

The physicians, employees, and administrators at the Hospital share a strong commitment to patient satisfaction and high-quality care.  The Hospital seeks to provide appropriate access to state-of-the-art medical technology, and has been a leader in the use of clinical information technology, implementing the Cerner suite of applications.  Plans are underway to replace a number of systems in the spring of 2008.
