Chief Financial Officer
We are seeking a dynamic, sophisticated financial executive to assume the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for our client, a world-class academic medical center based in New England. This high-profile position reports directly to the President and will have full responsibility for the fiscal operations of the Medical Center and its affiliates. The CFO directs the organization’s strategic and operational financial planning, budgeting process, accounting and finance practices, financial risk assessment, forecasting and variance analysis; and will maintain relations with financial institutions. He/she serves as Treasurer and is the primary executive responsible for oversight and management of the Medical Center’s investments. Qualifications The ideal candidate will be a talented, energetic executive with a strong command of financial principles; an effective negotiator with solid interpersonal and communication skills. He/she will be confident, engaged, and innovative; and possess high energy and integrity. In addition, he/she will possess strong analytical and strategic-thinking ability; and be capable of taking a long-term focus, with an exceptional grasp of the details, and a strong track record for follow-through. A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline (accounting/finance) and a master’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field is required; a CPA is desirable. Candidates must possess a minimum of ten years’ progressively responsible financial management experience within a complex healthcare setting including experience gained within an academic medical center environment. Candidates must be well-versed in all areas of healthcare finance, have experience working with a Board of Trustees, and be knowledgeable of physician practice management, research funding, and information technology. The Organization The academic Medical Center is home to a modern 400-bed tertiary care hospital, a Level 1 trauma center, a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center, and an integrated group practice. It serves as the principal teaching hospital for a prestigious university-based medical school and has a distinguished history of achievement in scientific research and clinical advances. .
